Tylorstown Colliery disaster

Recently published is a book called "The Tylorstown Colliery Explosion." The story of this explosion has been overshadowed by similar events at Ferndale and Mardy. However, this book follows the story of the sad events on January 27th 1896 that shook a small mining community in the Rhondda Vach valley and the agony and despair caused by the death of of 57 men and boys. For anyone interested in local history or the history of the mining industry this will be essential reading. For those who lost family in the disaster or had relatives down the mine at this time there are many names mentioned within. 290pp. £12.99
