Past memories

Can anyone remember the wide top milk bottles which used to have cardboard inserts. These when removed had the middles taken out and were then laced together to make a shopping basket. Also getting an empty treacle tin putting two holes in the sides , putting wire through to make a handle then using a nail to put the 1st letter of your christian name in the end. Putting a candle inside and then you had your own lantern, with your initial showing through the end. Near the tennis courts in Darren park leaves when chewed had a taste like vineger. Long time ago about 1943-45. Eirwen.

1943 gosh, Not born then. But I do remember making lanterns from Dried Milk tins as you said. Alsp the same tins were used in the Tudor Hall as lamp shades when I watched "Rob Roy". About 1954.
