Childhood Memories are precious

Postby brianblaenboy » Tue May 06, 2014 7:38 pm

Under the "Images of Tylorstown", Gary has generously given us some information on the back ground of 'Lockyer's' Garage. On other threads there are a lot of memories scattered between various topics - and I for one have enjoyed reading them all. During my nomadic style of life I have often stated that the Rhondda not only exported coal, we exported teachers as well. During the 70's when I played rugby around London, I think most of our opposition had a 'teacher from the valleys' and I even met Terry Thomas (George Street, Blaenllechau) at one club, and we mentioned playing in the snow on the mountains which virtually every one else couldn't even imagine! The late Sir Stanley Baker said in a documentary, "We may have been poor, but we were happy", and that is how I remember my childhood.
