Thanks for the "bigger picture" reminder Alan..........had not twigged the connection. The pathway from the bottom of Elm Street to the Junior School was called the TRIP (used four times daily) and passed the old Salisbury Hotel and The FLAT.
No doubt those low-fat wartime rations and regular exercise made us much fitter in the 40s.
