Just Mary Richards marrying any Jones was 17 pages of results! But Mary O Richards marrying any Jones produced:

RICHARDS Mary O Wales Monmouthshire, Bedwellty 1913 VIEW
RICHARDS Mary O Wales Glamorganshire, Merthyr Tydfil 1920 VIEW
RICHARDS Mary O England London, Paddington 1929 VIEW
RICHARDS Olive M Wales Monmouthshire, Newport (Monmouthshire) 1922 VIEW
RICHARDS Olivia M Wales Carmarthenshire, Llanelly 1922 VIEW
RICHARDS Olwen M Wales Radnorshire, Radnorshire East 1940 VIEW
RICHARDS Olive M England Shropshire, Newport (Shropshire) 1952 VIEW

Let me know of any of these look interesting.

Alan,

Thanks again. Of the twelve choices you listed the only ones which could possibly fit are numbers 4, 5 and 11, i.e. 1940 in Radnorshire; 1945 in Merthy and 1929 in Paddington. I know for sure that she was married by 17.10.1946 because I have seen a document with her name on it. At this point I favour the Mertyr date, simply because it is geographically the nearest to Maerdy and Ferndale. I don't know the family well at all but I can't think why she might be married anywhere other then in her home village. It looks as though I will have to get hold of all three certificates.

You are doing a great job. Thank you.

Alan,

I didn't see your last piece until I sent my last reply. Yours was on page two!

Glad to be of service. I was doing a bit of ancestry this evening anyway.

Now that I have seen them in detail I have changed my mind about Merthyr. There is no mention at al of Mary - just Olwen. I have to go for the other two. I will send for both certificates and see what comes of it. watch this space! I'm going to bed now.

Interesting stuff.

Your Gt Uncle's brother, Herbert was in the same regiment as My Grandfather who fortunately survived that war and was demobed from the Shrop L.I. He lived in Albany Street Ferndale and had a family of five children and was a widower by the early twenties.

Alan,

Our phones & internet are back on now.

Herbert was in the 7th Battalion. Was your grandfather in that? If so, I don't suppose you have a photo of them, do you? The one you posted requires me to log onto Facebook. I don't want to do that.

That was from JohnPitt actually, not from me. I think he signs in quite frequently though, I dare say he'll get back to you soon.

Sorry John, I didn't read your previous posting properly. I wonder if our two soldiers enlisted at the same time? Herbert Richards enlisted at Porth but I have no idea when.
