If anyone can help,I am trying to find out some information about the choir that my grandfather sang with. His name was James Jones, a miner from Brondeg street in Ferndale.I recently found some photographs from 1921 and 1926. The 1921 photo shows 20 members of the cymreic glee party (conductor B.Williams A.V.C.M) and the 1926 photos show the Rhondda fach choir when they were on tour in Germany. I also have my grandfathers passport and a diary detailing the events of the tour in 1926. The diary gives details of all the concerts that they gave, where they gave them, where they stayed etc. starting from when the Rhondda fach char left London for Ostend via Dover. There is even a mention of when they "sang to the wireless" and it was broadcasted over southern germany. They started the tour on September the 4th and returned on November 10th. This was during the miners strike and I am told that they collected money for the striking miners and their families from concert performances during this tour. If anyone is interested I will try and post the photo's. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who knows of anyone else who sang in the choir or indeed if anyone knew my grandfather or knew of someone he may have worked with?
