A very detailed view, from a postcard posted in 1961. Plenty to look at on this one.

This photo is almost a continuation of the Ferndale general view you posted earlier so between the two there's all of Ferndale. I can see my grandmother's house clearly across the road from North Road school.

So you can. I stood outside it only on Saturday pointing it out to my kids and my nephew. My father gave that as his address when he married in 1945.

Yes great detail, and tho' posted in 61 was almost certainly taken in 1957 or thereabouts because nothing seems to be dismantled. The No1 winding gear is in place plus the Pit canteen outside the gasworks and all the pit buildings. Also the Junior School with its unmodernised windows.

Thanks for this gallery Mochyn

You're quite right, you can only take the posted date as the latest date these photos could have been taken. I dare say some of them stayed in print many years after they were originally taken. And, on that subject, on the right hand side of the near end of Taff Street, you can see what I've been told is the station master's house, which is no longer there. Anyone know when it was demolished? I've another photo coming up which shows it quite clearly, a much older photo though.

This photo is about the only one that I have seen which shows Brynderwyn House clearly,

Gary, I hope I've correctly understood the building you mean. If so, I just looked through the postcards I posted to viewforum.php?f=8 and there are three that show Brynderwyn House quite clearly. Do let me know if I've picked the wrong place and I'll look again.

Anyway, here they are. As always, click each one for a larger copy:

By the way, one of these detailed views is, as Gary points out, from the postcard at the top of the topic. I'll locate the other two and post links here.
