Ferndale Junior School upgrade

Use this forum to post images of Ferndale, old and new. I don't have the capacity to allow users to post images directly to the forum I'm afraid so you'll have to host them somewhere else.

Old style left - Modernised on right

I think the year would have been around 1959 -- ??

By the way, this website clips some of my images, so to see the whole photo right click and select open image in new tab

Regarding the clipping of the image, assuming you can be bothered, you could try this:

1. Upload two versions of your image to wherever you host them: one about 640 pixels wide for display on the forum, and a larger one for standalone display.

2. Use the following code to add your images to the forum posting:

That'll give you a smaller, unclipped image in the forum posting, which is a link to the larger image.

Try any of the postcards I've posted to see it in action.

Yes, it does work, that's how all mine are done. Check the syntax carefully and be sure to replace the web site and the image names in both places. If you still can't make it work, send me the code you're using and I'll see if I can work out what's wrong.

Also meant to say, you can just use a lower resolution image as you said. I suggest a maximum width of 640 pixel will be safe for more people.

I've done something wrong with my junior school photos on my facebook page.
I've loaded the originals and tagged them best I can but how do I get to them from this forum ?

There's a "share" button but they seem to have cut down on the 'right click' options any way I don't think it's possible to off load the tagging.
Group photo images are a bit under-resolved and best chopped up a bit like with my Grammar school ones so people are a bit bigger.
Facebook have got a Hi-res button - but never tried it yet.
Will post you a chopped pic to your FB

Photobucket has a TAG button but I can't get it to work.
The pics there can be magnified so I'd like to use them.

When was that picture taken? I seem to remember that shot looking down the stairs on the bank up to Station Road (this was in 1949-52).

This photo was taken long after leaving Juniors - perhaps at 6th form grammar around 1964 or later when the front windows were modernised by changing to low window + skylight.
Left the old style, right the new.

The smart barbwire fence amd locked gates made no difference when the arsonists came and eventually set it on fire.
