Thanks Brian............four years seemed to have slipped by in a flash..............sign of old age obviously.

The GLYN was a grand project, but once built did not achieve the projected volume of bar and food sales needed to sustain viability as a commercial enterprise. The Ferndale pubs had to close and even the more centrally situated clubs are not finding it easy.

I do remember it as the Salisbury, a thriving Mitchell and Butlers pub in the 40/50s. Their dark mild, shilling a pint, brewed in Birmingham, was stronger and nicer than the local Pontygwaith Fernvale pale but the M&B pale bitter (known later as Brew 11) really packed a punch.
