It was on the corner of Fountain St and Station Rd. I can't remember why it was demolished but there is a very much less imposing replacement now.

Oh yes, I know the spot. I see the old boundary walls are still there though.

I am pretty certain that is Bethel, on the corner of Fountain Street.
Bethel was the alternate name for English Wesleyan.
Also, judging by the fairly steep fall-off down the hill to the station, I cannot think of another church or chapel with that type of road set-up.
The used to be a youth club - many moons ago, on the lower side of Bethel.

Bethel is the cream coloured building beyond Wesleyan - you can see its name if you use Google street view. I'm pretty sure the youth club was run by Wesleyan.

Weslyan is the correct name of the Chapel on the corner. Probably, just like Christ Church and others, "Dry Rot" had a lot to do with the demolition and replacement. Where wasn't a youth club in the 50's? Many chapels/churches have since been demolished or converted into accommodation - how times have changed!

So Christ Church was demolished then was it? Anyone know when that was? I just discovered my uncle (and possibly, therefore, also my father) was Christened there. Does anyone have a photo of it?

Yes that's it, and the large white house above the right end of the church was the vicarage.
